Perimeter and Area of my desktop

I am measuring the perimeter of my desktop. I found out that it was 61cm by 47cm.
P= 61cm+47cm+61cm+47cm
P= 216cm

I also worked out the area of my desktop.
A= 61cm x 47cm
A=2867cm (squared)

Measuring the perimeter of the tennis court.

Here we are measuring the perimeter of the tennis court. We found out that it was 12m by 23m (rounded to nearest whole number).
P= 12m + 23m +12m +23m
P= 60m
So we found out that if you run around the perimeter of a tennis court, you run 60m.

Measuring Volume and Mass

We have been learning about Volume and Mass. We now know that Mass = weight. Weight is measured in grams (g) and kilograms (kg) and Volume = how much a container can hold. Volume is measured in liters (L) and Milliliters (mL).

I found out that the volume of two Powerade bottles is the same as one 1.5 L coke bottle. 750 mL + 750 mL = 1.5L

We are weighing classroom objects. First we estimate the weight and then we check. These scissors weigh 50 grams = 50g
(These are our thinking faces)

Our task was to estimate and weigh classroom objects. I am weighing a stopwatch. I think it will weigh 20g... The actual weight was 50g.

We are weighing a felt pen.
We all think it will weigh 20g. But it weighed 10g. We were close.

This is fun and interesting. Here we are weighing a pencil case. It weighs 348g, we also learnt that there are 1000 grams in 1 kilogram.

Time race

Here we are playing a game where Mr Mitchell calls out a time and we have to make that time on our clock face. It is a race so it is important to listen carefully.

Flash cards...Whats the time?

This activity involves showing a buddy flash cards with analogue time on it. They have to answer with the correct time. This is a fun and quick game to play as a warm up or when you have finished all your work.

'Time dominoes'

In Rm 2 we have be learning about 'Telling Time'. We have been learning through fun games and activities.
Here we are playing 'time dominoes'. Our W.A.L.T for this activity was to match analogue time with digital time.
